I'm just curious to see how many people know about.
Name a few similarities between the Egyptian and Greek concept of the underworld/hell?
When one considers the years that part of the world spent on wars and conquest, is there any wonder there are so many similarities between all the nations of Europe, not just Egypt and Greece. The Gods of Rome, Spain, Portugal and many of the Baltic states become similar in origin and in designation and placement. All the nations of the world have some idea of Hell and what some call the underworld, which tends to lend some credibility to the concept of Heaven; fore there must always be a counter position even in the afterlife. The term "gods" is also world wide concept, stretching from, as is said one corner of the globe to another.
All humans began in a single location on the globe. Through evolution and climate variances across the planet, diversity became the norm. All in All there is still only a single race of humans. The human species like all other species; cats or dogs for example come in a variety of colours and sizes, but they are still only a single species.
Not only the Greeks and Egyptians, but also the British and the Italians have some sort of "ferryman" to carry one spirit to the netherworld. If one is looking for specific similarities, one will find more than one bargained for, because one is after all dealing with a single ideal for a single species.
BTW, there are too few people who understand such similarities, always looking to distance themselves form the rest of the human race, thinking themselves different in some way...how silly is Mankind in the eyes of their Deities?
