Does anyone knows how is the name Petraggelos(greek name) in other languages???___plZzz___=)?

Actually it seems more like a surname (if used by Greek people today), so you cannot translate it.

It's a combination of Petra (Stone) and Aggelos (angel, messenger), so it means something like "stone angel". But it could also be interpreted as Petros (Peter) and Aggelos (Angel as a first name, not unusual in Greece), in a poetic context, or Peter and angel, or petra and Angel, it depends.

edit: To Lizzy: good attempt... Actually the name you mention is Vassilakis (nominative), Vassilaki (vocative), from Vassilios (greek masculine name). The suffix in this case is -akis and it has a diminutive value. The name, contrary to the greek misconception, doesn't mean Billy, but something like "little Regal". Vassilias means King in Greek.

What did you want to know anyway? My opinion is that the name has such a form, either as a first or a last name, that you cannot translate it. You usually translate names to and from languages when there is something in common between them, for example religion or history. Report Abuse
