Does anyone know what MY Greek name, "Thanatos", actually MEANS??? How about the Japanese name "Sessho"?
Doesn't it refer to death in Greek?
Reply:It means you need to get closer to God.
Reply:Thanatos = death wish. Freud discussed it in his writings.
Reply:For Thanantos:

In greek mythology he is the personification of death and mortality, son of Night and Darkness.

For Sessho:

In Japan, Sesshō (摂政) was a title given to a regent who was named to assist either a child emperor before his coming of age, or an empress.
Reply:Thanatos is the typical Greek word for death.

I did a very in depth study on the word because it's the name of the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse and I needed an avenue for additional insight.

My conclusion is that there isn't any. It means death plain and simple, and it is the most frequently used word to convey the idea of death. It never, Never, NEVER means anything else.

.

It's where we get the word "Euthanasia". ("Eu" means "good".)
