Can someone translate my middle name into the Greek alphabet?

Although I'm Greek, I've never actually been to Greece nor do I speak the language. But for some time now I've been wondering how to write my name in Greek.

It's Leda Vamvakerides

I think I have the "Leda" part, but I'm not completely sure...Λήδα?

If you could help that would be great.

Thanks!

Can someone translate my middle name into the Greek alphabet?
Λήδα Βαμβακερίδη

(pronounced more or less as

"LEEtha VamvakehREEthee").

Your last name is a bit rare, bur recognizable as a greek one.

Βαμβάκι - μπαμπάκι - βαμπάκι means "cotton" in greek,

and βαμβακερός (vamvakeROs) means "of cotton".

-Ides (-ίδης) is a suffix showing origin. It is related to provenience from the Pontos area

(It could help you a lot if someone from your family could tell you about this fantastic background).

In greek, names have cases, shown by their suffixes. For a female last name, you drop the final s (distinctive nominative case masculine suffix) to make the genitive case (which shows where you belong to /come from).

So, Βαμβακερίδη == (member of the family) of (a man named) Vamvakerides.
Reply:hmmm.

Google translates it as:

Ληδα Vamvakerides

and Babel Fish (AltaVista.com) translates it as:

Reply:Translates to:
