Reply:Sisyphus was the king of Korinthos and he was forced by the gods to roll a stone up a hill for the eternity. When he was only some centimetres before the top of the hill, then the rock went down again.

The most common and well known reason of his punishment is the following:

Before he die, he said to his wife not to put his dead body into the soil. When he died, he went down to Hades and found Plouton. He told him to let him live for some hours in order to punish his wife for not bearing his body and then he promised that he would come back.

When he came back he punished his wife but he didn't returned to Hades. Then Plouton ordered Hermes to bring Sisyphus down to Hades and then he and Zeus punished with the way I said before...
Reply:Sisyphus was the legendary King of Corinth who was so cruel, he was made to push a stone up a hill, only to have it roll down again.

Prometheus was the Titan who gave fire to Man, and was chained to a rock while an eagle ate his liver for all eternity. He was eventually let off.
