About a year ago I was in Greece, on a tour we learned alot about history and lifestyle.
It is traditon in Greece to name a child after the grandparents. If a woman desires to have a child and is having trouble she must climb a hill (not just any hill, but a certain one believed to help her become fertile) and spend the night. They thank the god for giving them a child by naming the child after the god. There is a variation for the male and female and they are both beautiful. What are they?
What is that Greek name that starts with an "S"?
It is not a god they thank, it is a Saint (for Christians of the Catholic and the Orthodox Church there are Saints-protectors of many things/categories of people, for other churches I do not know).
螜 have not heard about it, but I searched a little and: there is
Saint Stylianos who cured heavily children or infertile women and protected them. The celebration day for him and all named after him is on the 26th of November.
(St'elios/Stylian'os for men, Stylian'i/ or St'ella (which means something different, but resembles the first one) for women
(all e-s like a in bay, i-s like y in bay also, Stress on the syllable where the ' goes). 危蟿苇位喂慰蟼/危蟿蠀位喂伪谓蠈蟼, 危蟿蠀位喂伪谓萎/危蟿苇位位伪
St'avros is a version of Stavr'os (cross).
Stavroula (stavroola is the feminine form, but if you call a girl stravoula you'll mean she is little and acting like having stravism (clumsy, maybe))
