Actually it seems more like a surname (if used by Greek people today), so you cannot translate it.
It's a combination of Petra (Stone) and Aggelos (angel, messenger), so it means something like "stone angel". But it could also be interpreted as Petros (Peter) and Aggelos (Angel as a first name, not unusual in Greece), in a poetic context, or Peter and angel, or petra and Angel, it depends.
edit: To Lizzy: good attempt... Actually the name you mention is Vassilakis (nominative), Vassilaki (vocative), from Vassilios (greek masculine name). The suffix in this case is -akis and it has a diminutive value. The name, contrary to the greek misconception, doesn't mean Billy, but something like "little Regal". Vassilias means King in Greek.
Does anyone knows how is the name Petraggelos(greek name) in other languages???___plZzz___=)?
What did you want to know anyway? My opinion is that the name has such a form, either as a first or a last name, that you cannot translate it. You usually translate names to and from languages when there is something in common between them, for example religion or history. Report Abuse

Whats a good Mytholgy (greek) name for Goddess of Jewels?
I have to make up a name for my made up ruler of jewels so what do u think would be a good greek name?
Whats a good Mytholgy (greek) name for Goddess of Jewels?
Diamonica
Reply:I am terrible at making up names but this is the real Greek goddess of gems precious metals.
THEIA was the Titan goddess of sight and shining light of the clear blue sky. She was also, by extension, the goddess who endowed gold, silver and gems with their brilliance and intrinsic value.
Reply:Ploutos (or Plutus) was the Greek god of wealth and Plouto was a Greek nymph, also of wealth.
Making one up though I'd say Chrysafia from the modern Greek word for gold.
Reply:Aurum-goddes of jewels.
Reply:Margarites: its a Greek name derived from the word Margaron, which means Pearl
Reply:Jewleus-i.e. persUES and other endings like that.

Does the Greek Goddess Tethys have a Roman name?
I'm doing a project and it says to include both the Roman and Greek name for the Gods and Goddesses. I tried looking on the Internet, but I found no conclusive evidence that she had both a Roman name and a Greek name.
Help!
Does the Greek Goddess Tethys have a Roman name?
Teti and/or Tetide
Reply:I can't find it in my mythology books either, the closest I can find is under the name of the daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, or according to another report of Nereus and Doris, and may be compared to the sea goddes of the romans under these names: Salacia, Neverita, and Venilia. But maybe these names will guide you to the information you need.
Reply:I think she have the same name Teti..
Look here there is a table of name referring between Grece-Romans names http://www.sullacrestadellonda.it/mitolo... ..
Francis..Florence town -Italy
Reply:the correct name is Thetis . No any Roman name- Thetis mother of Achilles if it happens that you didn't know it

Reply:Many names of modern world have greek origin and are greek names that later changed their shape and had modified to those languages.
For example, male name Petros in greek means rock and you have it today in many countries: in England is Peter, in Spain Pedro, in Slavic countries Petar, etc.
Same as this one, names like George, Helen, Alexander, Jason, Sofia, Catherine, Nicole and many more are basically Greek because they mean something in Greek only.
You can check out here is your name on list:

Now, if your name doesn't have greek origin, and you want to translate it in greek, use some of translation services on the web (you should give us your name and we would be able to tell you).

Childrens name tattoo in Greek letters?
Hi there
My childrens names are "Nikolas" and "Sofia".
I am looking for a great font and the right spelling of these names in Greek for my first tattoo.
I was thinking of the names along with birth dates.
Or something that sympolices my Greek roots (my father was born in the island of Rhodes).
Any ideas ?
Childrens name tattoo in Greek letters?

watch for the finishing "s" on the s, alot of people mess up and use "蟽". How about a band or circle of greek key design with the names inside, or 2 little cherub designs but more like a greek god and a greek goddess, choose ones that represent the personalities of your children!
Reply:HAVE U TRIED.. GOOGLING IT.. C WOT U COME UP WITH..
I THINK ITS GREAT U WANNA HAV UR KIDS NAMES TATTOOED ON U..
IV GOT FOUR KIDS...BEEN THINKING DOIN IT AS WELL
Reply:Firstly, you need to know the name of the language to convert to. In this case it is Greek cyrillic (I am a self-confessed Grecophile, and love all things Greek!). Secondly, you need to convert English text to Greek cyrillic.
I'm sorry, I don't have the time to hunt it down for you, but I'm sure a search will come up with something for you.
